Town Mouse Pam McCullough Moves to Country
MARSHFIELD, Mo. (PRWEB) July 16, 2013 -- In “The Wannabes” (published by Abbott Press), author Pam McCullough blends fiction with true stories in a collection of short stories about people who want to be farmers instead of city kids, and the mishaps that ensue.
“The Wannabes,” on the surface, is about the humorous aspects of McCullough’s farming experiences with her family. But it is more than that. She focuses on enjoying life to its fullest, and her inspiring story encourages readers to do the same.
McCullough grew up as a city kid. Her background did little to prepare her for what her family had in mind for their future together, though. Her husband, along with their children and grandchildren, lovingly coaxed her into farm life, and she had to adjust to an entirely new way of life.
“Being a novice in the Midwestern farming state of Iowa, the breadbasket of the U.S., only meant I had to learn much harder and faster than one who grew into it,” she explains. In the book, she shows how this learning process quickly leads to humorous mishaps.
McCullough also portrays the heart of her readjustment in life: to do something better with herself. “Everyone loves to smile,” she says, and she hopes her story, which is full of funny and stirring stories, brightens readers’ lives.
