Tulane School of Professional Advancement Professor Receives Research Award
NEW ORLEANS (PRWEB) December 05, 2017 -- The Tulane School of Professional Advancement has announced that Gerald Lenaz, Professor of Practice and Program Director for Applied Business Studies, has received the Faculty Mentored Undergraduate Research Award for the 2017-2018 academic year from the Center for Engaged Learning and Teaching (CELT).
His winning project, entitled Business Case for the Development of On-Line Master's Degree Programs for the Business and Leadership Studies Department at Tulane's School of Professional Advancement, will study the development of Master's Degree programs within the Business and Leadership Studies Department for adult and working students. The CELT grant is specifically geared to fund an undergraduate student in assisting a faculty member with their research goals.
The programs to be studied in the project are the Master's of Public Relations, Master's of Leadership, Master's of Marketing with a concentration in Analytics and Big Data, and Master's of Project Management. The research result will determine program learning outcomes and curriculum requirements, identify industry job opportunities and required skill sets, understand the competitive landscape, and help create a business and financial case for a new program.
"I am honored to be the recipient of this award," said Lenaz. "Helping adult and working students advance their careers is one of my passions, and this project reflects that. By leveraging the CELT grant, I’m able to give our students real-world problems to research to enhance their education at the School of Professional Advancement."
Lenaz, who has over 15 years of experience helping small businesses and start-ups grow through planning, marketing and development efforts, has his own consulting firm, Firestarter Consulting, and has been teaching at the Tulane School of Professional Advancement since 2010. He is also committed to local causes, investing his time in several economic and cultural capacities and serving on the boards of nonprofit organizations that help New Orleans thrive.
