TurningPoint and the modern Japanese martial art of Aikido
Belfast, UK (PRWEB UK) 12 March 2016 -- Martin Acton is the Founder and Chief Aikido Instructor at an Aikido institute in Dromore, County Down, Northern Ireland. Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art, consisting of meditation, self- defence, Japanese language and culture. Martin travels to many different companies and charities around the world, teaching about the 20 years he spent in Japan studying with the Aikido masters.
In the children’s classes, the students are taught about the history of Aikido, the Japanese language and techniques, and are then tested on their knowledge. In these lessons, Martin faced challenges in making the learning more interactive, productive and enjoyable for the children. That was until he started working at Turning Technologies in the Belfast office – and found TurningPoint to be the perfect engagement tool for use in his classes.
Since starting to use TurningPoint in his Aikido class, Martin can now teach a lesson and get instant feedback on how each student is progressing. He uses the multiple choice question type to test knowledge and fastest responder slides to encourage competition between the children. When the class is over, the reporting tool lets Martin clearly see how the class performed as a whole, and also how each individual student scored. If some points are not understood in class, he can review those areas and present the teaching in another way. TurningPoint saves Martin so much time as it creates records that can easily be printed off, or sent to the student’s parents to show the progress the student is making.
Martin highly recommends all educators, martial art instructors and public speakers to invest in TurningPoint software. ‘Young people love technology - this software is a great way to engage them and help them learn in a way that really works.’
