Two Back2Basics Drug Rehab Graduates Land Jobs
Flagstaff, AZ (PRWEB) February 25, 2014 -- With eight months of sobriety under their belts, John and Ryan have landed jobs while also completing the Back2Basics drug and alcohol transition program known as Beyond the Basics.
John works as the pantry lead, preparing salads and desserts at Tinderbox Kitchen, which according to him is the “hottest restaurant in Flagstaff right now.” Ryan is a sales associate at UPS where he coordinates incoming and outgoing mail, passports, notaries and printing projects.
Back2Basics is a niche, long-term drug and alcohol rehab that incorporates a 12-step program, wilderness therapy (outdoor adventure), traditional one-on-one therapy and life-skill building exercises such as weekly culinary classes, Spanish classes and higher education at Northern Arizona University or Coconino Community College.
“I feel that I have connected to the B2B program in every aspect,” said Ryan. “The outdoor trips where a great way for me to learn how to have fun in sobriety. The staff at B2B is really understanding and supportive, and I can relate to them more than I ever thought possible.”
Beyond the Basics allows residents to continue living within the residential program, but gives them the tools, such as resume writing or interviewing techniques, to help them succeed in day-to-day life.
“There are no challenges I didn’t anticipate,” said John about his new position at Tinderbox Kitchen. “I knew there would be a lot of drinking and alcohol, but I have been up front with the people I work with, and it has been a non-issue.”
John currently juggles Beyond the Basics, Tinderbox Kitchen and graduate school.
Ryan’s future plans involve mending his relationship with his family, and to take on the family business. “Getting sober made me realize all of the things that are important to me, and what I took for granted.”
