Tyler Perry Gives $20,000 Donation To Women Veterans Non-Profit
Washington, DC (PRWEB) December 19, 2014 -- It’s not every day that you receive an unexpected call from one of your favorite celebrities, but that is exactly what happened to Women Veterans Interactive President Mrs. Ginger Miller.
Miller recently received a call from actor, director, screenwriter, playwright, producer, author, and songwriter Mr. Tyler Perry. He praised WVI’s national efforts to support women veterans. “I love what Women Veterans Interactive is doing for women veterans,” he said, before backing up his praise with a $20,000 donation.
“This is like a dream come true! It’s a triple blessing to get recognized for the great work we are doing at WVI by Mr. Perry, a $20,000 donation, topped off by a personal phone call" said Miller.
As a Navy veteran and now President of Women Veterans Interactive, Ginger Miller is a true champion for our Nation’s veterans. Miller was recognized in 2013 by First Lady Michelle Obama as White House Champion of Change for Women Veterans.
Since inception in 2011, Women Veterans Interactive has supported over 1,000 women veterans and expect to support thousands more. 2015’s fund raising efforts will focus assisting military and veteran women become workforce ready and employed by expanding WVI’s workforce development program, Military and Veteran Women Making the Transition and Beyond, and their Operation Safety Net Program which provides emergency assistance for homeless women veterans and women veterans at risk of being homeless.
Mrs. Miller along with the WVI board, staff and supporters wish to thank and salute Mr. Perry for his contribution to further the WVI mission. Through this donation WVI will be able to help many more women as they make the sometime rocky transition out of the military to the civilian life.
