Unyte Launches Crowdfunding Campaign for Biofeedback, VR and Gaming Meditation Tech
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) June 06, 2017 -- Today Unyte launched a Kickstarter campaign for an interactive meditation technology that combines gaming, virtual reality and biofeedback hardware. The clip-on device, when paired with the company’s 50+ fully-immersive experiences, makes meditation measurable, fun and effective. Early bird pricing starts at $149 USD (retail value $299 USD).
Unyte is based on technology that was acquired from a company called Wild Divine, which sold tens of thousands of biofeedback devices in 60 countries over the past decade. The company’s mission is to help people live happier, healthier lives by making meditation easier to master. Its first product strives to cultivate mindfulness using fun and motivational techniques.
“There’s no denying the physical and mental benefits of meditation,” said Unyte CEO and Jason Tafler. “But many people find traditional meditation methods hard to learn, boring and frustrating. Unyte’s unique combination gamifies meditation and makes it easy to learn so anyone can reap the productivity gains and overall health benefits it provides.”
Unyte teamed up with a top electrical engineering firm to design its own biofeedback device: the iom2. The iom2 is the highest-fidelity, lowest-cost biofeedback device on the market; it’s simple to use and is desktop and mobile compatible.
The iom2 measures the body’s heart rate to determine Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and galvanic skin response. This interprets the user’s state of stress or relaxation and, when paired with the software, connects the user to exercises and games to guide them through meditation.
Unyte has created over 50 “vacations for your mind”, which include digital guided meditations and mini-games played by using the body’s feedback. They have also formed partnerships with developers who are integrating their biofeedback hardware into their games.
“We wanted to push the limit in terms of offering a truly immersive experience,” Tafler added. “Virtual reality technology was a natural step, and we’re excited to have developed five VR games, specially designed to optimize the meditation experience.”
Unyte’s apps show the body’s responses and display the user’s HRV and resonance score on-screen in an easy to read format. When the player’s score improves, the game progresses—a simple prompt to show the user their body is responding and they are entering into a deep meditative state.
“Last year, after 20 years of over-working and ignoring my stress, I was rushed to the ER with severe internal bleeding. After I stabilized, meditation was recommended to me as a safe and effective therapy to manage my condition, but I found it difficult to stay motivated, and I wasn’t sure if I was doing it ‘the right way’,” Tafler said. “That’s why I was so excited when I discovered biofeedback-based meditation training, which led me to make one of the biggest decisions of my life—to leave the corporate world and launch Unyte, focused on making it easy for anyone to master meditation."
