San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) December 01, 2014 -- The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) is sponsoring an India Smart Grid Workshop Series to bring together U.S. and Indian power sector stakeholders for future project implementation.
The workshops and associated site visits will assist Indian utilities to address their growing power needs through a better understanding of U.S. grid modernization, demand side management, and renewable energy integration technologies, as well as the policies, best practices and financing mechanisms to support project deployment. The first workshop will take place December 9, 2014 in San Francisco, CA, while the follow-on workshop is planned for March 2, 2015 in Bangalore, India to further highlight U.S. smart grid technologies and best practices including the key findings from current USTDA smart grid grant programs in India.
The participating delegates in these activities will include representatives of major Indian utilities that are currently participating in USTDA’s smart grid grant programs including: Reliance Infrastructure Limited – Mumbai Distribution, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited, Calcutta Electric Supply Company, and Bangalore Electric Supply Company, Ltd.
Henry Steingass, USTDA’s Regional Director for South and Southeast Asia, highlighted the importance of smart grid technologies for Indian utilities. “India is at the threshold of dynamic growth in the deployment of smart grid technologies, particularly as increasing amounts of renewable energy are added to the grid and the country looks to develop 100 smart cities. There is great potential for U.S. companies that provide grid modernization and load reduction technologies to partner with Indian utilities.”
The workshop series is a chance to hear first-hand of the procurement and partnership opportunities that exist in the smart grid market in India. U.S. company representatives are encouraged to participate in the workshops to better understand Indian utility needs and upcoming procurement opportunities, as well as to highlight their company’s expertise to the participating Indian utility representatives. Sponsorship opportunities are available to promote U.S. company expertise at each of the workshops.
This workshop series is being organized on behalf of USTDA by The Webster Group, a leading Washington D.C. event and meeting planning company, in collaboration with Emerging Markets Infrastructure (EMI) and 3E Consulting.
