Austin, Texas (PRWEB) May 11, 2016 -- An innovative coding boot camp designed to support the surging demand for Austin-area web development professionals, The Coding Boot Camp is now running at the University of Texas at Austin. Our next class will begin July 18.
The first program of its kind, The Coding Boot Camp at UT Austin was created to train students in the skills needed to build dynamic web applications and succeed as web developers. One of the nation’s fastest-growing professions, web development is on track to add jobs at a 20% annually through 2022, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
In Austin, job growth could actually outpace national averages.
“The city has long been a fertile breeding ground for new businesses and a center of the worldwide technology boom,” says Veronica Phillips, program manager at UT Austin’s Center for Professional Education. “It’s not surprising that demand for experienced web developers, coders and IT professionals has never been greater, both locally and nationwide.”
Of the 150,000-plus web development jobs available each year, only 100,000 are filled.
“That shortfall creates a wealth of opportunities for job seekers,” says Phillips. “While this is a profession that demands a lot, our goal is to help fill the employment gap by giving students the skills and confidence they need to attract employers, get hired and excel in their field.”
In addition to covering the basics of coding, algorithms and data structure, the curriculum includes in-depth training in JavaScript, Node.js, HTML, CSS, jQuery, Laravel, and more. Students also benefit from career-planning services, portfolio reviews, demo days, recruiting assistance and extensive staff support.
The Coding Boot Camp at UT Austin takes place at the Norris Conference Center in North Austin and combines classroom instruction, online coursework, and experiential learning activities. Students work on building a professional portfolio of projects throughout the course to showcase their abilities across a wide range of technologies and hone their competitive edge in the employment market.
The 24-week program includes two three-hour weeknight classes and a four-hour class on Saturdays. While no previous training or experience is required, applicants should have an understanding of coding basics.
