Virginia Homes to Sell Second “Home for Hope” in Wellington Reserve
Columbus, Ohio (PRWEB) June 04, 2014 -- Charles Ruma, president of Virginia Homes and a testicular cancer survivor, recently announced the launch of the 2014 Home for Hope. The two-story, 3,570-square-foot custom-built home is currently under construction in Dublin’s Wellington Reserve. The home is valued at $639,900, and all sale proceeds will go to The James Cancer Hospital. Eight years ago, Ruma received cancer treatment at The James. Today the 43-year-old remains cancer-free.
“This is my way of giving back,” Ruma explained. “I believe I am healthy today in large part due to the outstanding treatment I received at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. I vowed that I would do what I could to give back. That’s what the Home for Hope is all about.”
This is Virginia Home’s second “Home for Hope.” The first was built in 2011 in Dublin’s Tartan West. The home sold at a live auction and raised $65,000 for The James. Ruma is hoping to raise twice as much this time around.
The 2014 Home for Hope will have four bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths. Like the first, the home is designed and built to encourage healthy living and energy efficiency. Numerous sub-contractors have signed on to donate their services as well. However, the house will not be sold via an auction. Instead, it will be sold to the first buyer to sign a contract and meet all qualifications.
“The Home for Hope is a tremendous group effort, and many of the sub-contractors involved have been touched by cancer, as have those involved in marketing and selling the home. It is a creative way to give back to the hospital that has had such an impact on so many lives. I am grateful for the support the project is receiving,” Ruma added.
