Visit Oakland Attains Destination Marketing Accreditation
Oakland, CA (PRWEB) July 22, 2014 -- Visit Oakland was awarded accreditation today from the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP). DMAP is an international accreditation program developed by Washington, DC based Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI).
The only comprehensive industry-wide accreditation program of its kind, DMAP is designed to recognize destination marketing organizations that meet or exceed industry standards. By earning the DMAP accreditation, Visit Oakland conveys to its stakeholders, clients, visitors and community that a significant measure of excellence has been attained.
Visit Oakland is now one of just over 150 Convention and Visitors Bureaus across the country that can claim this accomplishment.
“The Visit Oakland team is extremely honored to receive such a prestigious national accreditation,” said Alison Best, CDME, President & CEO, Visit Oakland. “DMAP is the gold standard by which destination marketing organizations are now measured and we know that this accreditation symbolizes the high standard that our stakeholders and visitors are seeking.”
The official DMAP accreditation certificate was presented to Visit Oakland Monday evening at DMAI’s Annual Convention in Las Vegas.
The DMAP accreditation is an arduous process comprised of rigorous standards set forth by the professional destination marketing community. Evaluating standards include a variety of topics including; Governance, Finance, Management, Human Resources, Technology, Visitor Services, Group Services, Sales, Communications, Brand Management, Destination Development, Research/Marketing Intelligence, Innovation and Stakeholder Relationships.
