Tampa, Fla. (PRWEB) October 07, 2013 -- WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG), a leading provider of managed care services for government-sponsored health care programs, is offering free General Educational Development (GED) testing for eligible WellCare of Georgia Medicaid members.
A 2012 survey of WellCare’s Medicaid members in Georgia revealed that approximately 20 percent did not have a high school diploma or equivalent. The company is underwriting the cost of the five required exams to help reduce that number.
“WellCare’s mission is to enhance our members’ health and quality of life, and education is one of the building blocks that contributes to both individual and community well-being,” said Roman Kulich, WellCare’s region president, Georgia and South Carolina. “Preparing for, taking and passing the GED can teach positive habits and open doors of opportunity for our members, and will help them lead better, healthier lives.”
To be eligible, WellCare of Georgia Medicaid members must be at least 16 years old. They cannot be currently enrolled in high school, a graduate from an accredited high school or have received a high school equivalency certificate or diploma. To help ensure success, members must pass the GED practice test prior to taking the GED.
Members can go to https://georgia.wellcare.com/ for details, including how to complete pre-test prep courses and the GED practice test, obtain a test voucher number, and take the GED test. Members can also call 1-866-231-1821 for more information.
