WellCare Opens Binghamton Welcome Room
Tampa, Fla. (PRWEB) July 24, 2013 -- WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG), a leading provider of managed care services for government-sponsored health care programs, recently celebrated the grand opening of its Welcome Room in Binghamton, N.Y. WellCare’s Welcome Rooms are neighborhood health care information, education and sales centers that are open to the public and staffed by WellCare associates to answer questions about Medicare health plans as well as eligibility.
WellCare operates 17 Welcome Rooms throughout Florida, New York, Connecticut and Texas. They offer a comfortable environment where visitors can ask questions about health plans, find out if they are eligible for extra benefits, get online to search for more information and enroll in a WellCare health plan. This new facility will be a valuable resource for the approximately 40,000 Medicare-eligible residents in Broome County.
“WellCare’s Binghamton Welcome Room can provide seniors with important information about their eligibility for a range of health care options,” said Binghamton Mayor Matthew Ryan. “With the recent changes to our health care laws, it’s essential for local residents to have convenient resources like this to get the answers they need. I’m pleased WellCare has chosen to expand its operations in our community.”
As part of WellCare’s efforts to give back to the communities it serves, a $2,000 donation was presented to the Catholic Charities of Broome County during the celebration. The organization’s mission is to care for those in need while promoting human development, collaboration, and the elimination of poverty and injustice. Tonya Brown, Catholic Charities deputy director, accepted the donation on behalf of the organization.
“We are grateful that WellCare is part of our community,” said Brown. “Catholic Charities serves over 50,000 members of Broome County every year and last year we provided more than 800,000 meals to the hungry. This donation supports our efforts to counsel and advocate for youth, families, and people with developmental and mental health needs in Broome County.”
“WellCare’s mission is to partner with health care providers, governments and communities to provide quality, cost-effective health care solutions,” said Kevin Conroy, president, WellCare of New York. “Every day we have the privilege of helping members in Binghamton and other upstate New York communities access the services and information they need to lead better and healthier lives.”
WellCare’s Binghamton Welcome room is located in Price Chopper Plaza, 10 Glenwood Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13905.
