SANTA BARBARA, CA. (PRWEB) February 04, 2016 -- x.o.ware, inc. has announced an exciting new feature for its XOnet VPN gateway that will allow multiple sites to easily and instantly create a private, encrypted distributed network over any Internet connection. The XOnet is now the easiest and most cost effective way ($69.95 MSRP) to securely combine up to hundreds of private local networks into one large distributed network.
By utilizing new extensions to IPSec, the open source VPN protocol, XOnet now lets users create encrypted links between two or more devices that are connected to their own local networks. This XOnet-to-XOnet feature transparently connects two networks together with no special software required for any computer, printer, or other networked device. User data never gets sent to any third party servers, as data only passes from XOnet to XOnet, and the UI provides a visual map of both networks. There are never monthly or annual fees for using the XOnet.
“Site to Site VPN is in need of a massive overhaul,” said Ken Goldsholl, CEO and founder of x.o.ware. “XOnet makes it plug and play simple and is a one time fee for the hardware, enabling anyone to stay secure.”
The new firmware version (2.0) is available for automatic download from x.o.ware's update servers (and ships pre-installed on any new XOnets purchased from x.o.ware x.o.ware).
The new firmware releases also provides several other enhancements:
Updated algorithm – The XOnet and XOkey now use Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) certificates for negotiating session keys. Also, the new version is updated from SHA-1 to SHA-2 for signing certificates.
Basic support for Android devices – XOnet can generate an IKEv2 certificate that is easily copied to the mobile device using the StrongSwan app on their Android mobile device to get quick and easy VPN protection on those devices.
Improved DDNS support – The user interface on the XOnet has been modified to make it easier to use any third party DDNS server.
The XOnet and XOkey can be purchased directly at http://www.xoware.com and http://www.amazon.com. While the XOnet is available for $69.95, a special VPEx starter package, which includes two XOnets and one XOkey, is available for $159.95, including shipping.
