Young Poet Explores Emotion In New Book ‘Smithereens'
GURGAON, India (PRWEB) September 24, 2015 -- Inspired by the thoughts everyday life can evoke, 18-year-old poet Shreya Singh wrote her poetry collection, “Smithereens” (published by Partridge India).
“‘Smithereens’ is a book that attempts to touch upon those corners of your heart that most people try to avoid,” Singh says. “This book of poetry strives to make the reader feel and connect with words like never before.”
Despite her young age, Singh seeks to write poems to which readers of any age can relate. Her poems explore emotional highs and lows in order to create an accurately depict mankind’s day-to-day existence. She hopes her book will cause readers to introspect and find internal balance.
An excerpt from the poem “Unoccupied”:
“I want to sleep for a long, long while
And wake up in this skin
And body
And look, at my world with sleep drunk eyes.
The kind where you can smell
And lick the morning dew off your arm
Where you can roll down, rough, gravely roads
Without it piercing your back.”
