Yourwellness Magazine Explores Pros and Cons of HRT
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 29 August 2013 -- Concerns raised by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has caused Beacon Hill Medical Pharmacy, dba Rxtra Solutions, to voluntarily recall all lots of 135 sterile injectables and hormone replacement therapy products nationwide to the user level, the company announced in a press release on the 1st of August. The FDA concerns were raised over sterility assurance, as the microbial contamination of products that are intended to be sterile can lead to serious and sometimes life-threatening infections. In its press release, the company commented, “Beacon Hill has not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall and to date, there is no evidence of contamination in the recalled products or any previously prepared products.” (http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/355809)
With this in mind, Yourwellness Magazine explored whether natural therapies may be more effective than hormone replacement therapy. According to Yourwellness Magazine, “Many women who are going through the menopause are put off the idea of having Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) due to some major studies about a decade ago which called the safety of the treatment into question. The studies appeared to link HRT with a variety of other health concerns such as heart disease, stroke and breast cancer, and so many women feel concerned about the risks of the therapy and look to natural herbal alternatives.” (http://www.yourwellness.com/2013/02/hormone-replacement-therapy-or-natural-remedies-whats-better/#sthash.Xg9mSWSW.dpuf)
Yourwellness Magazine explained that while HRT may not carry the huge levels of risk that were first associated with it, there are also increasing numbers of natural remedies available to women, all claiming to be able to combat the range of unpleasant symptoms of menopause. However, Yourwellness Magazine noted that few of these remedies available have been properly studied, and although there is some promising research around red clover and black cohosh, these are not seen to be as beneficial as HRT.
