Zass Design Eco-Craze on the East Coast
Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) May 30, 2014 -- Zass Design, a mother-and-daughter eco-conscious jewelry and accessory studio, are taking the East Coast by storm. Their focus on redefining the overlooked and typically recycled objects into classic upcycled accessories landed them on the runway at Charleston Fashion Week and a recent feature in Verve Magazine out of Asheville, North Carolina, highlighting the award winning designers of CFW 2014.
Their creatively “new” designs are made from products that have more life to live and more happiness to give.
Co-owner and founder Stephanie Smith said, “Our designs breathe new life into all the materials we produce, we not only want to educate the public on becoming environmental savvy, our goal is to create products that will live on! Every choice we make has an impact in some way, shape or form and the purpose of our company is to make a positive impact.”
To accomplish their goals of making Raleigh an eco-conscious city, Zass hosts classes for the public to teach them how they can add new life to old pieces. “We have so much fun teaching others what we do and why. It’s really awesome to see both kids and adults bring new and personal meaning to upcycled materials. We watch their passion for the trait unfold and we’re honored to help them make Raleigh a better, greener place.”
Their next event will be Friday, May 30th at the 2014 Redress Raleigh Eco-Fashion Show; a fashion show designed to bring you the best designs while making you more environmentally and socially aware.

About Zass Design
The Smith mother-daughter duo is happy to call Raleigh, North Carolina home, where they have spent the last 17 years teaching themselves how to make jewelry & perfecting their craft.
As purveyors of handmade jewelry from up-cycled materials, they knew there had to be a way to continue the life of such unique + overlooked material without just throwing them in the recycling bin with yesterday’s newspaper. They paired some outside the box thinking with the Graphic Design degrees earned in their professional careers and started making earrings, necklaces, and bracelets with the vibrant prints that were once magazine pages.
In 2009 they took their nighttime hobby and created a limited edition jewelry collection of printed material to launch Zass Design (Zulay and Steph Smith). Seemingly overnight, the two built their sustainable jewelry passion into a successful brand.
Their philosophy in every creation is to respect the environment and the fundamental principles of eco-design: reduce, reuse, recycle. Every piece has a history, a starting point. Each piece is individual with a unique past, present and a future story of its own.
